Peak Oil Debrief Grand Rapids – Thursday, June 19th

Professor Kenneth Piers will summarize peak oil as a refresher for new comers.  Piers has been the Professor of Chemistry at Calvin College since 1968.  Professor Piers is a scientist, and a teacher, and a perfect person to answer peak oil questions.

After quickly reviewing the basics of peak oil, open discussion will follow regarding where to go from here, given the reality of global peak oil.  This is an opportunity to network, discuss, introduce new ideas, and to work together.

"Peak Oil Debrief Grand Rapids" will take place at the Grand Rapids Public Library (main downtown branch) on Thursday, June 19th, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Parking is free (validated) for the first hour, but normal rates then apply - OR - downtown parking by meter will be free at the time of our meeting so arrive a little early and you should have no problem finding parking within a 1-2 block radius.

This is a free event but donations are greatly appreciated to cover the cost of renting the library space ($125).

To reserve seats, please contact Eric Saigeon @ 616-881-1330 or ericsaigeon@gmail.com.  Seats will be held until 6:35 p.m.

Attend the free Grand Rapids premiere of "What a Way to Go: Life at the End of Empire".

The film examines our present global predicament; as oil depletion, climate change, species extinction and population overshoot converge in a “perfect storm” of cataclysmic dimensions.

The free film premieres on Saturday, April 19, at 12:30 p.m., at Grand Rapids Community College Calkins Science Center at 226 Bostwick NE in Grand Rapids (map).  The film will be followed by a community discussion, with the conclusion of the event prior to 4:00 p.m.  Capacity is limited to 150 people; RSVPs are required.  Free parking is available.
